Migration

In this project cast concrete penguins forms were locked up to bike racks in the downtown area of San Jose.  Migration utilizes the penguin forms to simultaneously function as art interventions, while questioning assumptions about ownership and property, private versus public space, displacement, and ultimately identity as citizens in an increasingly globalized population.  Through humor this work aims to engage a diverse population on issues specifically relevant to our immediate shared community, location, and space, in hopes of connection on a truly human level. The group of penguins started in the SOFA Art District and moved up First Street, through the Paseo de San Antonio, before finally ending up in front of the San Jose Museum of Art.  Fluorescent pink.
